the tree is..

..DOWN!

had to de-christmas my house as it just seemed to be dragging on forever and was starting to do my head in...pretty much over the festive season now and ready for the new year! big clear outs & major saving are on the cards for the first few months of 2011 and my new years resolution(s) are as follows:

* don't worry about things as much
* read more
* travel and see as much of the world as possible

love a fresh start :)

simply having a wonderful christmastime..

aaah so good...laying on the couch, too full to move - watching uncle buck & the grinch and hollie pie playing with her new waybuloo. santa was veerry good to me. highlights include a brand new FISHEYE, a casio mens silver watch & fleecy welly socks! over-indulging and relaxing as much as possible, because i know i'll be back in the gym with a vengeance next week..

you were only waiting for this moment to arise..

i was born after he died but the music had a strong effect on me from a very early age, due to my dads vinyl collection. i was brought up with it, had good music instilled in me from the start and it wasn't even clear to me until a long time later how much of an icon/inspiration he was. he was just a talented man in a band, who wrote some amazing music that none of my other friends were very keen on (they were too busy listening to kylie, jason & big fun :) i remember getting very weird looks when my primary school project of choice was on The Beatles! i'm 100% glad i was introduced to him & them when i was. it gave me good taste and it's still my music of choice - especially the early stuff that didn't have much of a 'message' or psychedelic hidden meanings. i love it all. it does make me sad when i think of everything the world has been deprived of but we'll manage with what we have.

people.

“You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks — even months, analyzing a situation, trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could’ve, should’ve, would’ve happened. Or, you can just leave the pieces on the floor and realize there’s a reason they’re down there.”

always easier said than done. but i just don't get people who insist on making things harder for themselves - we only get ONE, very short life to live, so why waste time and energy on the wrong person or spend your life in hope, that things will eventually change. if they aren't how you want them now, chances are they never will be. sad, but 9 times out of 10, very true. people are in control of their own lives and are responsible for the choices and actions they make every day. be strong, don't blame the world for your problems, take responsibility, live your life the way you want to, and don't let regrets or negative people get you down or stop you being who you want to be.

i definitely never want to be one of those people who look back on their lives when i'm old and grey and think to myself "how differently would i have lived my life if i could do it all again"

clear out time

is almost upon us again. make room for new stuff, find new homes for the old stuff. come january I plan to have another 'vintage swap night' - girls, music, food, wine & copious rails of clothes to rake through. doesn't get much better than that! last time it was just me, giving away at least a third of my wardrobe. obviously this time I won't have as much, so need to try & encourage people to bring more of their own. not sure whether to make a 'bring at least 5 items' rule or something? hmm.

since our big girls night out got cancelled due to bad weather, my Saturday night consisted of a goo-ood bottle of red wine & a huge map of Cali. getting excited planning our road trip for 2011 - it's actually not that far away!! any suggestions of good trips, attractions, trails, shops, restaurants, bars on the West Coast are all very wilkommen!

s'now joke

ok...so the snow is pretty an all, especially in Dec, but seriously - be gone! this week off i had so much planned and had to cancel it ALL - 4 intended christmas shopping trips, lunch for my mums birthday and a girls xmas night out :( pretty much sick of the sight of the same 4 walls. house has been cleaned about 3x this week, tree & decorations up, log fire roasting, dvd collection fully viewed and about 4 books demolished...boom! however i am more than ready to be able to leave the house again...and to get back in the gym :)
